G2 take down Virtus.pro again
Starting off on the CT-side of Anubis, NiKo and nexa found early impact, taking G2 off to a 5-0 start and once m0NESY got his hands on an AWP, Virtus.pro's T-side routing became all the more difficult. G2 snatched a 9-3 half in their favor.
In the second half, Virtus.pro won the pistol and converted the anti-eco, in an attempt to close the gap on G2's lead but once the gun rounds began, Virtus.pro stood no chance as G2 closed it off in style with a 4-rounds streak. G2's 13-6 win on Anubis fetched them a 1-0 lead in the series.
Going into Overpass, Virtus.pro hit the ground running, pushing G2 down to an early 1-6 disadvantage on their CT-side. fame and FL1T kept piling up frags but a massive 116 ADR CT-side performance from NiKo saved the day for G2, levelling the half at 6-6.
Things went neck-to-neck for a while in the second half but Virtus.pro was caught off guard by G2's sudden change of pace towards the end, netting a 13-10 win for G2 and a 2-0 series sweep with m0NESY coming in with an incredible 1v3 clutch to power G2 across the line. This win sends G2 to the semi-finals of IEM Chengdu 2024 and marks the end of the road for Virtus.pro in the quarter-finals.
