9INE beat Into The Breach in Brazy Party Quarters
9INE has been a Polish team that has finally put the legendary CS nation back into the mix. After their qualification from the RMR, they won many hearts and even got analysts Mauisnake and Kassad to predict a miracle top 8 at the major on the Hot Take Point Made podcast. And they again proved their strength, taking out fellow major legends Into The Breach in a 2-1 series.
The game started off on Vertigo, where the Poles boasted a 15-map win streak coming into the match. The first half saw 9INE on the attack starting off with a pistol round conversion for 3. ITB answered back with a quick quadruple, but Hades and KEi popped off to net 9INE, a fitting 9 rounds in the half.
The second half was much more dominant for the Polish squad as they answered a lost pistol with a forcebuy and ran that momentum all the way to 15 before closing the game out at 16-9, proving once again that challenging them on floor 51 is a foolish idea.
The second map of the series was the opposite side of that coin. Where 9INE have been undefeated on Vertigo, they have gone winless on Ancient. ITB exploited that by picking the map, but it looked like they would almost come to regret it. 9INE's defence was solid, with AWPer Hades continuing his strong form alongside KEi and Kylar. The trio edged out a halftime victory with 8 on the board, but ITB was ready to battle. The Brits, now on their own defence, matched the 8-7 scoreline and took the game to OT. In OT, ITB continued the strong CT side and took the 2 necessary T-side rounds to close the map win 19-16.
Completing the trifecta of the newer maps, Anubis was the decider. rallen's crew started off with a pistol conversion, but 9INE quickly ran away with the half, putting up 9 on their attack. Over on the defence, 9INE picked up the pistol round and cruised to a dominant 16-7 victory to close out the series and move on in the event.
ITB now prepare for the Paris Major, while 9INE moves on to the semi-finals, where they'll face the winner of Apeks vs Astralis.
