Memorable Major debut for Apeks
Team Liquid was shocked by Apeks in the opening match of their Paris Major campaign as Apeks won their first ever Major match 16-12.
Liquid and Apeks kicked off their first game Ancient with Liquid on the T side and it was EliGE who converted a 1v1 to give Liquid the first round. Apeks immediately bounced back with a force-buy to tie things up. The force buy win helped Apeks go on a seven round win streak before EliGE came in with an incredible triple entry on the B site to give Liquid their second round. Liquid managed to turn that one round into three as they closed up the score at 7-5 before Apeks bounced back with the eighth round to win the first half. Apeks ended the first half 10-5 with Liquid struggling as NAF ended the first half with 0 kills. Liquid took the second half pistol on their T side and converted the force-buy to get the score to 10-7.
Apeks managed to see out multiple clutch attempts from Liquid to get to 13 before Liquid came through with couple of solid defensive rounds to secure five rounds in a row before Apeks got to 14. jkaem came in with a crucial round for Apeks as the lurked between Liquid's defensive set-up to give Apeks map point. Apeks eventually made sure Liquid's comeback was cut short as they wrapped up the map 16-12.
For Apeks jL, kyxsan and jkaem all had a strong map with 25, 23 and 23 kills respectively. For Liquid, even though oSee managed to get 30 kills and EliGE got 28, it just wasn't enough as it was yet another slow start for Liquid.
