"One thing we've been struggling a lot with is the servers" - TAV
After their loss to 7SEA Esports, Velocity Gaming are now 0-4 in the tournament and we got a chance to talk to TAV from Velocity on what's been going on in their camp and their game plan going forward, here's what he had to say.
0-4 in the tournament so far, can you talk us through your game plan going forward from here?
"One thing we've been struggling a lot with is the servers, we try to peek confidently but the game just doesn't register out shots sometimes and we feel that the game is lagging sometimes and the FPS!- let's say someone throws a flash, there's an instant 50-100 FPS drop. There were multiple scenarios where Logan or L0sttt are behind the enemies, aiming right at them and then the ping spikes up and their shots don't register at all even though they were aiming right at them. This is a huge factor when it comes to 1v1 duels and peeking confidently. Nobody here is a rookie, we're all level 10s, we've been grinding a lot, going according to the playbook but when there's a lack of confidence because of this, we go back to our roots and play passive. It is a huge setback for us and nonetheless we're trying to fix it and come back stronger."
You lost one anti-eco on Inferno and they ran away with the match, what happened there?
"We should've been a little more dynamic, they had 3-4 stacked towards moto and it caught us off guard. We got the pick first pick and then everyone went down and I think that put us off a bit."
Can you talk us through Vertigo? What went wrong?
"Most of our rounds on Vertigo came from our CT-side pushes. When you're on CT and they peek you, it just pops on the screen and then insta-headshot, that's not how it is supposed to work. I'm not blaming the ping which is around 40-50 but there are huge network spikes, a lot of packet loss and Kevin lagged out at least 3-4 times on one map, it is challenging to stick to a game plan with all this happening."
Any big changes going into the next match?
"We're looking to fix these problems and apart from that we're all grinding, Kevin is doing a good job, we're all doing a good job with the playbook and stuff."
