Humiliating defeat for Furia against TheMongolz

The Brazilians get eliminated after losing 2-0 against TheMongolz

The Play-ins turned into a disappointment for the Brazilians, as their hopes of securing a spot in Cologne were dashed, getting eliminated by TheMongolz. In a match against the 30th ranked team in the world, they suffered a defeat in two maps, Inferno and Overpass.

As Inferno, the map pick of Mongolz commenced, Furia started their CT campaign on the right foot, thwarting TheMongolz's B rush and smoothly securing the second round against Glocks. However, TheMongolz quickly retaliated in the 3rd round with a late A site swarm. TheMongolz's opted for patient gameplay, roaming around the map as a team. It proved pretty effective for them, as they took the lead to 7-4. In the subsequent round, letting the clock run down came back to bite them, as they lost a promising 5v3 advantage to FalleN's trigger discipline, as he denied the bomb plant just in time. Furia capitalized on this momentum to win the next round, but TheMongolz finished the half strongly, closing it out at 9-6 by claiming the last two rounds.

Furia swiftly bounced back, leveling the score by securing the pistol round and two more rounds. Although they seemed poised to dominate, TheMongolz put up a fight, securing three rounds in succession. Yet, Furia gained an economic advantage in the late game, eventually reaching match point first. With limited funds, TheMongolz made the Famas sing, winning the 29th round and then converting the next to take the match to overtime.

Overtime was a nightmare for Furia. Despite gaining entries into bombsites, they made several crucial mistakes, which you wouldn't expect from a team of their caliber, leading to their loss in all three rounds of the T side. TheMongolz then sealed the match with an impressive A site execution, emerging victorious on Inferno with a final score of 19-15.

Overpass evolved into a fiercely contested affair from the outset. As the game unfolded, Furia found a lot of success on the A site. As a result, despite losing the initial two rounds, they managed to rebound with 5 rounds of their own in a row. However, their team chemistry appeared to be suffering, as they repeatedly failed to anticipate smoke pushes and left vulnerabilities in their crossfires. TheMongolz capitalized on these weaknesses, shifting the momentum in their favor and concluding their CT campaign with an impressive 10 rounds secured.

The relentless Mongolian onslaught persisted on their T-side, leaving Furia with no opportunity to seize the momentum. Furia prolonged the inevitable by winning two rounds against Matchpoint, but TheMongolz easily closed Overpass with a scoreline of 16-8.
