"Our own mistakes extended the map" - SpawN
Revenant Esports defeated table toppers Enigma Gaming, winning out Mirage and Nuke. After the match we got a chance to talk to SpawN, the IGL of Revenant Esports and here's what he had to say about the match.
Got kind of close towards the end, can you talk about Mirage?
"Mirage was a surprise, we didn't expect them to pick Mirage, I don't know why they picked Mirage because they have lost a lot on that map. Everyone knows we like to play, I didn't expect it to be their first pick, I thought maybe it'd be leftover for the decider. I was pretty confident about the veto when they picked Mirage. It was a smooth start for us, we got good rounds on CT and I was confident about our T-side. We could've closed it out earlier but our own mistakes extended the map."
Inferno is a very strong map for you guys, what happened on Inferno?
"We knew they were going to counter us hard and again, it was our own mistakes that gave them the chance to do that. We couldn't afford to lose the anti-eco after winning the the T-pistol. We lost unexpected rounds and they got momentum. They had also changed player roles, like Roflko was shifted over to A. We'll theory out what mistakes we did and work on those, but as a team we are pretty confident on Inferno."
A near flawless CT-side on Nuke, can you talk about that?
"The same thing happened to us against Medal, they won the anti-eco and ran away with the half but this time we won the anti-eco and ran with it. We knew it was a crucial round to win, like me and Sk (SKwow) hit our deagle shots and the round went in our favor. We switched some roles in our team and I feel we're very comfortable as a team and it's working out fabulously. I'm the IGL now, I just want the guys to focus on the game, even gump can focus on his individual game. We were ready for anything on the CT-side and shut down anything they were coming up with."
