G2 stand their ground against Virtus.pro

G2 proceed to the Group D Upper Finals after victory against Virtus.pro

The action commenced on Virtus.pro's map pick, Mirage, with G2 starting on the CT side. A triple kill from huNter- propelled G2 to secure the pistol round, followed by a clean conversion in the next. However, mir managed to secure a couple of crucial entries on the A site, securing the first round for his team as G2 was forced to save. Despite losing another round on the A site, jks, the A site anchor, made a stand, single-handedly eliminating 4 Terrorists, pushing G2 to a 3-2 lead. Taking the baton, m0NESY stepped up, delivering multiple kills totalling to 15 at the end of the half, that allowed G2 to secure an impressive 10 rounds on the CT side.

Starting on a high note, G2 secured the pistol on the back of a B rush, after converting a 2v2. Virtus.pro deciding to force buy came back to bite them, as losing the follow up enabled G2 to take their lead 13-5. While Virtus.pro retaliated with a round win and were on the way to stage a comeback, a 1v1 from jks shut down all hopes for the Russians, as G2 sealed the map 16-6.

The second map Inferno started off with Virtus.pro dominating on their T-side, as they surged to a 4-0 lead. G2 The half turned momentum based, as it was G2's turn to string three rounds to find an answer. The match evolved into a back-and-forth affair, with both teams securing a chain of 4 rounds each, culminating in a tight 8-7 score at the half, with G2 narrowly missing out on a round.

The pistol going the way of Virtus.pro poised them to take a decent lead, but a reply right back from G2 restricted them from going any further. After the score tying at 9-9, Virtus.pro found their footing on the CT side. Converting a force buy round, they went on a spree of 5 rounds. With FL1T and fame going ham on the CT side, Virtus.pro ultimately sealed the map 16-10.

The decider took us to Ancient, with Virtus.pro starting on the defensive side. G2 got the underway in a storming fashion, as despite losing the pistol, they found a three round streak. While the rounds were close, jks and huNter- found a lot of impact in the late rounds, snatching multiple rounds from the jaws of defeat being in man deficit situations. As a result, G2 concluded the half with a commanding 11-4 lead.

After losing the pistol in a 5v5 retake, a double from m0NESY assisted by a 3k from NiKo closed out yet another force buy for G2, as they looked to close out the game. The map spiralled into a series of tec-9 buys for Virtus,pro, and with none of them producing any results, Ancient ended up going the way of G2 with a 16-5 scoreline.
