Could we see a switch to CS2 mid EPL playoffs?
With Counter-Strike 2 reported to launch this week, a new report by Dust2.us has stated that ESL might be thinking of making the switch to CS2 from CS:GO during the ESL Pro League Season 18 Playoffs.
Dust2.us spoke to ESL, who said the following with regards to the matter;
"Generally, we survey teams and players participating in our competitions to get an understanding of their opinions on a variety of topics. Now, we are indeed in discussions with the EPL Playoffs teams to understand their preferences in the event that Valve's tease for tomorrow holds true and CS2 releases to replace CS:GO. Once any final decisions come out of this we'll update you as soon as possible"
The report states that ESL has spoken to the teams at the EPL Playoffs and asked them whether they would be comfortable with switching to CS2. While CS2 is imminent, organisers are allowed to finish their events on CS:GO.
The Playoffs of ESL Pro League Season 18 got underway today and the Grand Finals is scheduled for Sunday 1st October, 2023.
