Massive shock in Malta
The first quarter-final of the ESL Pro League Season 18 saw Vitality take on Monte, with Monte coming off the back of their delayed win against Complexity last night, which was paused due to the launch of CS2. The quarterfinal was delayed as well as teams faced issues while trying to launch CS:GO.
Monte started their pick of Anubis with a T sided pistol win. After three in a row, a Magisk double opener saw Vitality get on the board and a ZywOo 1v2 saw Vitality hold on in a 2v4 against an upgraded pistols buy to tie the score. Vitality could barely get their CT side going as Monte's T side was all over them and it was Monte who took a 11-4 lead.
Vitality through flameZ and Magisk's resurgence managed to put up a fight on their T side but it was Monte who closed out Anubis at 16-11.
Monte won the opening pistol on Vitality's pick of Nuke but Vitality replied with a force buy thanks to a Spinx and apEX full house. It was a back and forth half with br0 and Woro2k keeping Monte in the game and it was Monte walking a with a 9-6 lead at the half.
Monte turned around a 2v5 to steal the second pistol but ZywOo kept Vitality in the game as it was br0 once again causing all sorts of trouble for Vitality's defence. Monte pushed Vitality to all 30 rounds and secured the map at 16-14 to pick up the series 2-0 and book their semifinals.
