BetBoom cause first major upset in Sydney
World number 1 Vitality got their CS2 journey underway against nafany's BetBoom, as the teams faced in the Group A upper bracket quarter-final at IEM Sydney 2023.
Mirage was the playground as Vitality started things on the T side. An instant B rush with a flameZ double opener saw Vitality take the opening pistol. zorte with a crucial triple on the Big Green saw BetBoom get their first round in round five and with nafany leading from the front, BetBoom managed to salvage the half as they pulled it to 4-8.
ZywOo's triple in the second pistol saw Vitality convert both pistols on Mirage but BetBoom's reply on the force saw them tie the score at 9-9. BetBoom dropped three match points that saw Vitality take the game to overtime.
It was BetBoom though, who managed to hang on in overtime to take down Vitality 16-14 as they sent apEX and co. to the Lower Bracket. Vitality will now play the loser of the FaZe and GamerLegion match.
