Sub-tick aims to create a more consistent experience for all players

In a recent interview of PC Gamer with a CS2 developer, the developers discussed the significant changes and improvements introduced with Counter-Strike 2. In the interview, the developer highlighted that one of the most substantial upgrades with CS2 is its new engine, Source 2, which allows for long-term support of the game, ensuring its continued development and longevity. Addressing concerns raised by players, particularly regarding hit registration, the developer clarified that such issues are not related to CS2's sub-tick servers but rather stem from other bugs, such as animation-hitbox mismatches. Nevertheless, the development team values the community's detailed feedback and is actively working to address these concerns to enhance the overall player experience.

The interview also touched on the unexpected popularity of the Premier matchmaking mode in CS2 and the flexible approach taken for the game's first-year plans. Despite some hiccups during the game's launch, the developer considered the Limited Test phase a significant success, as it provided valuable feedback from players, influencing key decisions leading up to the full release.

The interview concluded with a forward-looking perspective, indicating that CS2 is expected to undergo substantial changes over the next decade, and the development team remains committed to exploring new ideas, responding to player feedback, and continuously improving the game for the community.
