CS2 player count takes a hit

The numbers were pulled from steamcharts.com

Around the two months mark, the average player count for Counter-Strike 2 has significantly decreased. Leading up to CS2's launch, CS:GO had even crossed an average players count of 1 Million in May and June.

In the couple of months following the game's launch, CS2's average players count decreased by around 200,000 players, amounting to an 18% decrease.

CS:GO had taken a much bigger hit in terms of player count when it was launched. The community has been very vocal about expressing how incomplete the game's "full release" feels.

CS:GO had a large chunk of casual players and in the transition, Valve left out many casual game modes, deserting the casual community. The Source 2 engine is more demanding and requires more capable hardware, affecting players on lower end PCs.

Players have been experiencing inconsistencies with the fundamentals of the game like movement and shooting, which could be another reason for the decline in numbers.
