New insights into "boost bug" surfaces on X
A well known figure in the Counter-Strike community, Poggu took to X, sharing his insights into the notorious boost-bug, rendering boosts useless due to a weird shooting inaccuracy. When Counter-Strike 2 came out in an open beta capacity, ragdolls would collide with each other, stacking up bodies.
However, when this feature was disabled, a new bug came into existence. Sometimes when a player would get boosted on top of another player, their weapon would become inaccurate, rendering the boost nearly useless. The bug caused severe outrage in the community, given how fundamental and tactical, these boosts were in pro play.
In a recent post by Poggu on X, he reveals that when Valve disabled ragdoll collision, they did not implement a client-server status check that would timeout the parameter, resetting collision for that player's ID in the following round. This could potentially be the definitive cause for the "boost bug", in which case, a simple hotfix could get rid of the bug.
Poggu goes on to explain that players and their ragdolls share the same entity. The same applies when collision is cancelled out when two ragdolls come in contact with each other, negating many collision aspects when at the player in question respawns the following round.
