M80, fnatic put up the longest CS2 pro match
With a playoffs spot on the line, M80 took on fnatic in Group C's upper bracket semi-final at the ongoing ESL Pro League Season 20. The bo3 started on Anubis with a fairly common 6-6 first half but little did anyone know what they were in for. M80 came back from an 8-11 deficit to push the game into overtime - quite an impressive feat.
The overtime however pushed the boundaries of professional Counter-Strike, testing each and every player's endurance. The game went on forever, putting up a staggering 71 rounds of play including 8 overtimes as M80 finally took the map 37-34.
The game by far is the longest Counter-Strike 2 game recorded on HLTV in terms of the number of rounds played. A total of four players (two from each side) crossed 50 frags with reck and slaxz putting up 58 frags each for M80, who ended up winning the series 2-0.
The previous LAN record for the most number of rounds put up in a CS2 game was held by The MongolZ and TYLOO where they put up a 54-rounds match in their eXTREMESLAND 2023 match. The MongolZ ended up edging out TYLOO 28-26 after five overtimes.
