'It would’ve made things very different' Bhavi on the second half pistol loss to Rare Atom

It wasn't the start Gods Reign were looking for at eXTREMESLAND 2024 as the Indian team faced Rare Atom in their Group A opener. Rare Atom, came into the tournament as one of the highest ranked teams and as the obvious favourites but Bhavi and co. showed glimpses of what could have been, putting up a fight to maintain a respectable scoreline.

Following their match against Rare Atom, Gods Reign's captain Bhavi had a short chat with Dust2 India, talking about the game and what lies ahead for the Indian team in the tournament.

Slow start for you guys but you built up momentum towards the end (of the first half) and then conceded the pistol round in the second half. Could that pistol round have changed the match?

Yeah it would’ve made things very different. We had a slow start and we lost both pistol rounds if I remember right. If we had more momentum I think it would’ve been different. That pistol round win would’ve made it a much closer game than 7-13.

Along with the pistol, Gods Reign dropped a couple of more rounds in the second half where they had a man advantage, which left Bhavi pondering what could have been, had those rounds gone the other way.

Did the LAN nerves get to you? For instance some of the rounds dropped by you guys here would’ve been round wins under usually circumstances.

I think everything was fine, it’s just that we lacked a lot early in the game and our comms were not on point. However, it started getting better once we started putting up rounds towards the end of the game.

You’ve made a team like Rare Atom sweat a little towards the end, is your confidence higher for tomorrow’s game?

Yeah I think they were the hardest team in the group so whoever we play tomorrow, we’ll just play our best. Even in today’s game we played decent, we had good buy rounds, we just need to work on communication and clutch scenarios.

Gods Reign will be fighting for their tournament lives tomorrow against dreamScape in the Group C elimination game, which will be a BO3 encounter.
