Danish joy as EG put down
Danish team ECSTATIC managed to take down Evil Geniuses Black as they kept themselves alive in the ESL Challenger Melbourne 2023.
The Group B elimination game kicked off on the Danes' pick of Ancient with and after converting the pistol, ECSTATIC were 5-0 up before EG got themselves up on the board. ECSTATIC managed to take a 9-6 lead in the opening half and took the second pistol as well but EG bounced with junior coming in with a crucial 1v2 clutch to push the game to overtime. It was HexT and junior who stepped up in overtime as both teams were just trading rounds in overtime, with neither team able to secure back-to-back rounds. The Danes finally managed to put three rounds together in second overtime as they secured the map 22-20. kraghen finished the map with 40 kills and a 1.29 rating.
EG's pick of Inferno was up next as it was the Danes starting on the CT half. While it was a close first half at 9-6 in favour of the North Americans, ECSTATIC managed to take a slender lead at 12-11 before EG put together five consecutive rounds to close the map 16-12 with their AWP-er junior ending the map on a strong 1.42 rating.
The decider was played on Vertigo and it was a back and forth first half which saw ECSTATIC take a 9-6 lead before Queenix and salazar had a strong CT half for the Danes, which saw them close the map 16-11 to keep themselves alive in the series.
After taking down one North American team, ECSTATIC will face another North American side in Complexity.
