The third 16-0 of Major History

Apeks annihilate Grayhound 16-0

The Aussies were utterly humiliated as Apeks put their name in the history books.

In a surprising turn of events at the BLAST.tv Major Paris 2023, both Apeks and Grayhound secured upset wins in the opening round. Apeks defeated the formidable Team Liquid, while Grayhound emerged victorious against Jerry's squad, FORZE. In the 1-0 bracket match, the two teams headed to Mirage.

Apeks displayed high confidence when STYKO opted for a P90 in round 2, deviating from the typical CT favourite, the MP9. Although the unconventional choice resulted in only one kill, Apeks successfully thwarted Grayhound's force buy attempts, establishing a 3-0 lead in the first half.

Continuing their dominance, the squad swiftly secured nine rounds while Grayhound seemed flustered, struggling to devise effective strategies. Apeks' players Nawwk and jL stood out, showcasing their prowess with the AWP-rifle combination.

With four Apeks players registering over 100 Average Damage per Round (ADR), Grayhound could not mount a comeback, losing round after round with just two bomb plants throughout the half.

In a pivotal moment in round 15, Grayhound planted the bomb and gained a 3v2 advantage on the A site. However, in a nail-biting 1v1 situation, Alistair faced off against STYKO, but the veteran successfully defused the bomb amidst the cover of smoke, crushing any hopes of a round victory for the Australian team.

Finally, Apeks secured the pistol round, cementing their names in the history books with an astounding 16-0 victory. This achievement marks only the third 16-0 win in Major history, with the previous two victories belonging to the legendary Astralis team during the FACEIT Major London 2018 and the IEM Katowice 2019 against MIBR and C9, respectively.

Apeks' remarkable performance in this match takes them up 2-0 in the event. They are just one game away from securing a top 16 and going into the Legends stage.

16-0 ! Finally I get to witness one. I remember 15-0 mirage half where outsiders manage to win the ct pistol make it 15-1, narrowly avoiding 16-0 but finally it happened.
