G2-0 themselves to the Legends Stage
G2 became the first team from the Challengers Stage to book a spot in the Legends Stage of the BLAST.tv Paris Major 2023 after taking Apeks down 2-0. G2 were dominant in both maps against Apeks as the latter now fall into the 2-1 bracket.
The first best-of-three game of the Challengers Stage was on Apeks' pick of Anubis with G2 picking up the pistol on their defensive half. jL and jkaem gave Apeks three early T rounds but G2 bounced back with three defensive rounds to take a 5-3 lead before Apeks got back on the board but G2 responded with nothing but pistol which broke Apeks' economy. Both teams were trading rounds with Apeks ending the first half with a slender lead at 8-7 thanks to a couple of impactful rounds from nawwk.
G2 tied the game at 8-8 after taking the second pistol with HooXi having an impactful pistol round. huNter- extended G2's lead after he won a 1v1 clutch on the A site. nawwk's AWP was the main force behind Apeks' first defensive round as they built on it to hit double digits. NiKo's ace on a low buy saw G2 secure 13 and G2 eventually used NiKo's ace to wrap up the map at 16-11.
G2 were looking for a clean 2-0 as they headed onto their pick of Inferno with Apeks starting on the defensive half. G2 took the pistol on their map pick and took the opening five rounds before Apeks came in with a team ace to put up their first round. Apeks could manage only one more round in the entire half, which came in the very last round of the half as NiKo and jks were unstoppable on the T side.
jks almost pulled off a 1v3 in the second pistol but lost out to the clock, which saw Apeks put up their third round of the map. G2 responded immediately with the force buy to put up 14 and they eventually closed the map at 16-3 with jks ending on top of scoreboard with 44 kills across the two maps with a 1.56 rating.
