Bad News Eagles shock G2 down to 0-2
After the flawless run through the Challengers stage, G2 was expected to use their sheer individual skill to run through the Legends stage. But after the Vitality loss earlier in the day, BNE managed to stun G2 with a 16-13 victory to send G2 down to elimination.
BNE kicked off the game on the CT side with a pistol round win, but HooXi from G2 immediately answered with a double entry on A. The game continued back and forth for a few rounds before G2 took control with a remarkable NiKo ACE.
With G2's stars performing well, their attack dominated the half, securing 10 rounds. However, BNE didn't back down and picked up another pistol round victory. They converted it into six consecutive rounds, taking the lead over the international squad, despite NiKo's impressive 24 frags.
G2 managed to secure other round thanks to m0NESY's AWP, but BNE remained resilient and took the lead at 12-11. They continued their strong performance, putting two more rounds on the board and reaching match point with a score of 14-12. With G2's economy broken, BNE executed a successful A site take, resulting in a 3v3 post-plant situation that the Kosovar squad closed out, securing the map win 16-13.
BNE's victory puts them at a 1-1 record in the BLAST.tv Major Paris, keeping them safe in the legends stage. Meanwhile, G2 will need to fight their way back through the 0-2 gauntlet to secure a spot in the Accor Arena.
