Monte qualifies for BLAST.tv Paris Playoffs following win over Navi
So many storylines were brewing as we went into the Ukrainian clash between NAVI and Monte. The Woro2k vs s1mple grudge match, DemQQ proving Blad3 wrong for the Akuma accusations, SDY proving that he is a major calibre player after the kick from Navi.
The match began on Anubis, a map where Navi had a perfect win record, albeit with only 4 matches played. Monte, however, felt confident on this map, and they showcased their comfort by winning the pistol round conversions before Navi tied the game up at 3-3. Round 6 promised the hyped AWP showdown between Woro2k and s1mple, but both players were eliminated by riflers before making a single shot.
Monte fought back, with SDY's XM1014 securing two kills, followed by kRaSnal's impressive quad kill, which disrupted NAVI's economy heading into round 9. Monte dominated the half, finishing with a 10-5 lead as Navi's players struggled to perform.
Navi started the second half on a positive note, converting the pistol round into three consecutive rounds. Monte, however, won their first CT round to halt Navi's momentum. Navi quickly reached double-digit rounds without conceding another to regain control. Just as Navi was closing in on Monte's lead, Monte launched a strong attack, reaching a score of 14-10. Blad3, Navi's coach, called a timeout to rally his team, but Monte managed to break into the A site with a triple kill from DemQQ, securing match point. Ultimately, Monte closed out the map with a 16-12 victory, taking a 1-0 lead in the series.
Navi kicked off their T side on Nuke with a successful pistol round, courtesy of a clutch play by Perfecto on the B site. However, Monte swiftly responded with a streak of three rounds before NAVI could buy their guns and secure their second round. Woro2k showcased his AWP skills on Nuke, delivering precise shots to halt Navi's progress.
Monte's defence proved impenetrable, displaying their expertise on the map due to their extensive experience. They dominated the first half by securing an impressive 13 rounds. Maintaining their momentum, Monte converted the pistol round with the help of their Ukrainian trio, handing Navi one of their most significant defeats in recent history.
Woro2k's legendary tweet came true as the youngster took down s1mple's squad in just two maps to qualify for the playoffs of the BLAST.TV Paris Major. Navi will have to regroup and play the 2-2 deciders to hopefully qualify for the playoffs of the last CSGO Major.
