Apeks are the final Legends in CS:GO History
The clash between Apeks and NIP was set as the final match of the Legends stage, bringing an end to the final group stage in CS:GO Major history. And what an end it was as Apeks completed their underdog run to eliminate djL's troops from the major to book a berth at the Accor arena.
NIP started strong on the T side of Vertigo, winning the pistol round and reaching a 3-0 lead on the 51st floor. They continued their dominance, securing an 8-3 lead to confirm the half-win. Apeks picked up a crucial triple, ending the half with 6 rounds.
Aleksib and co. started the second half with a pistol win, putting them in double digits. However, both teams struggled to string consecutive rounds together and traded blows to reach a score of 12-9. Apeks then secured two consecutive rounds, bringing the score to 11.
The game was tightly contested as the teams tied at 13-13, and they continued to trade rounds. Apeks reached match point first, but NIP fought back, pushing the game into overtime. In overtime, Apeks only lost one round before reaching match point again. This time, they closed it out with a 19-17 score, taking the lead in the series.
Moving to Ancient, Apeks started with a pistol round win, but NIP quickly retaliated with a force buy victory, establishing a 4-round streak. Despite Apeks' efforts to respond, NIP's CT side remained strong, building a commanding 7-3 lead and eventually securing an impressive 12-3 half.
NIP extended their lead to 14 rounds as headtr1ck and Aleksib showcased their exceptional performances. However, Apeks came alive on their CT side, mounting an impressive comeback. They won seven rounds in a row, closing the gap and reaching double digits, with their entire lineup delivering standout performances.
Although NIP reached match point first, Apeks fought fiercely, forcing the series into overtime once again. Apeks continued their flawless performance in overtime, overpowering NIP and ultimately securing their place in the top 8 at the BLAST.tv Major Paris, with an almost perfect ending as the former Ninja Nawwk sent NIP packing in a 1v2.
Apeks round out the list of teams in the BLAST.TV Major Playoffs and will face off against Team Liquid in the quarter-finals. The Legends Stage concludes giving us a bizarre set of squads that almost nobody could have predicted.
