The French duo brings home the Major trophy at the Accor Arena

Vitality are the final CS:GO Major Champions

Zyw0o and apEX lift the BLAST.tv Paris Major trophy bringing an end to the last chapter of CS:GO.

Vitality are your BLAST.tv Paris Major champions. The hometown heroes swept the underdogs GamerLegions to win the last ever major in CS:GO history as the Accor Arena erupted to crown the champions.

The game started on GamerLegion's pick of Overpass, and the international squad started with a pistol round win to open the Major finals. Vitality answered with a flawless forcebuy to force GamerLegion to the backfoot, allowing the Bees to take a 5-1 lead on the defence. It was isak's tec9 that ran through the A site to give GL their second before apEX clutched it out to keep Vitality in control. Siuhy had to do everything in the final round to get them a 4th. An 11-4 half on the opener still did not bode particularly well for GamerLegion's chances on this map but gave them just enough to keep them in contention.

The Polish in-game leader was the star of the pistol round with a 4k, but the force buys went back and forth as Vitality emerged victorious with a 14-6 lead. In a 2v2 that acted as a metaphor for the matchup, the mega-veterans dupreeh and apEX took down the stars of GamerLegion iM and acoR to secure 16 and take a 1-0 lead in the series.

Nuke began with another GamerLegion victory in the pistol, and finally, they were able to convert it into a second as Vitality took a full eco. The Legion's Romanian star iM had gone largely missing in the first map, but on Nuke, he put up a 16-5 KD in just the first 9 rounds to put GL on 6-3. iM continued giving GL a massive 10-5 half as they hoped to break Vitality's 100% win record on Nuke.

Vitality's defence started off strong as Zyw0o and Magisk put up massive rounds to take Vit to an 8-11 score. GL picked up another round before Spinx shut down the A site attack to send iM and acoR saving as the Bees moved to double digits. Vitality tied the game up at 13-13, putting all the pressure on the shoulders of siuhy to prove himself as one of the best IGLs, to call a perfect game to shut down Vitality and take it to the third. But the Polish leader was unable to overcome the stars of Vitality as Magisk joined Zyw0o at the top to shutdown iM's best efforts, closing the series out 2-0.

With this victory, ZywOo enters the list of major champions cementing his place in the discussion for one of the best players in CS:GO history. Magisk joins gla1ve, dev1ce and Xyp9x as 4-time major champions, while his brother-in-arms dupreeh closes CS:GO out as the player with the most major wins at 5. Their former competitor turned captain, apEX, establishes himself as one of the most impactful French players with two majors across two completely different eras and in two completely opposite in-game duties.

Finally, the Israeli superstar Spinx brings a massive achievement to a historically under-represented region in CS:GO, representing the rise of international talents across the whole scene. And behind them throughout, Zonic retains his crown as the greatest CS:GO coach, proving that he was just as important as gla1ve in the legendary 2018 Astralis.

CS:GO's final chapter may have ended, but the epilogue begins as we move to the USA to close the season with IEM Dallas and BLAST Spring Finals Washington D.C. There is history still to be written, dreams still to be fulfilled and trophies still left to be lifted as the countdown begins to the next book in the greatest Esports of all time. But today is all about Vitality as they take home $500,000 and more importantly, the legendary Major trophy.
