Fallen and Co. take down Vitality

Imperial upset Vitality in Washington DC

In what may be their last event together, FalleN's troops took down the Major Champions

Vitality's run at the Paris Major may be filled with low-ranked squads, but their opener against Imperial was the biggest underdog match they've had. Add the roster changes that are looming over Imperial, and even a map win would have been an absolute disaster for Vitality and a miracle for Imperial. Yet somehow, Imperial managed to chain two of those miracles together to take down the International squad in just two maps.

The match started on Imperial's pick of Overpass, where the Brazilians started with a 3-0 lead thanks to the pistol round win. ZywOo and dupreeh combined to get Vitality the fourth round, but Imperial won another to take back the economy, and chelo cleaned things up on Vitality's eco. chelo and JOTA popped off with 17 kills each for Imperial's T side as they closed the half out, leading 12-3. The second half was over as soon as it started, as Imperial converted the pistol round and converted it into a flawless run to 16.

The second map saw VINI secure the pistol in a 1v1, and the former FURIA player took off. Finding massive impact frags round after round, keeping Vitality on the back foot. The Paris champs found some respite thanks to Magisk and ZywOo, but boltz ripped that hope away with a 1v3 win on the A site. Imperial again came out on top in the half at 9-6. The 100% win rate on pistols continued for the Brazilians to get an early start in the half. Vitality picked up a round thanks to ZywOo running rampant on the A site to put 7 on the board.

But a 7 hp boltz clutch on the eco put Imperial in control at 13-7. VINI continued his form to deny Vitality any chances of a comeback. It was a B pop and an apEX triple that gave Vitality an easy path to 9 rounds. The Brazilians were put on the backfoot as Vitality gained momentum and ran up to 11. A broken buy came out from Imperial, but Fallen pulled out a massive Deagle triple on the A site to lock in matchpoint. And the leader came out on top in a duel against ZywOo to start round 27 and was 6 hp away from closing it all out before dupreeh snatched it away to take Vitality to 15-13. Imperial finally closed the game in round 30 to 2-0 Vitality.

Imperial will now face the winner of G2 vs Cloud9 and is guaranteed a quarter-final finish at a minimum. Meanwhile, Vitality drops down to the lower bracket.
