Infinity eSports' comeback hopes are dashed in a nailbiter by Reckoning Esports
Beginning on the T side of the overpass, Reckoning Esports (RGE) was the first team to notch a round by kicking things off with a classic B rush. A full eco on the second round allowed Infinity eSports (IE) to manage a decent buy on the third. In spite of this, Reckoning traded their way to a third-round win despite it coming down to a 1v1 between kanekIOf and ghostxD. Heartbreaks continued for IE as they lost a 3v1 to Bryle on a semi-buy. A flawless 7-0 spell from RGE was finally ended by rEborN, as he finally answered the B executions with a hold of his own to help win the first round for IE.
As the game progressed into the 11th round of play, IE lost their star player kanekIOf, trying to provide his team an opening against the Terrorists coming out of the Playground. Getting an early advantage, RGE decided to build upon it to line up and execute on the A site. However, PaINNN, lying in wait in the Bathrooms, put his aim on display by cracking open four heads in 10 seconds in WC. The remainder of the half saw IE claw back the 0-7 deficit to a defendable 8-7 score-line.
In the second half of the play, a fast A rush from IE saw them inch closer to double digits. IE then extended the score-line to 10-8 as the game seemed to slip away from the hands of RGE. In dire straits, PaiNNN stepped up with an all-important ace to put his team on the board in the second half. Trading off rounds, neither of the teams was looking to give up, as the game was slowly turning into a thriller. The game became a battle of nerves and it was RGE that emerged victorious. On multiple occasions, although IE was poised to win the round on the back of massive advantages, it was ghostxD who stood in their way. First, he racked up 4 kills with his saved AWP when the rest of the team only had USP-S to play with. Then he pulled out a 10-second Ninja defuse out of the hat on the 27th round. These plays proved to be back-breaking for IE as despite their valiant efforts, they ended up on the losing side of the matchup.
