“We’ll have more strats and playbook at Skyesports Masters” - DEFAULTER

Marcos Gaming dethroned the defending champions, 7Sea Esports and earned their first title under the new name

After a hard fought win in the finals of TEC Arena Connect, Pune against a very challenging opponent, we got hold of the veteran, now IGL, DEFAULTER from Marcos Gaming, who started the tournament as Random 5 and here’s what he had to say.

How does the win feel?

It feels great, its our first win under the name “Marcos Gaming” and we defeated someone who has been playing and grinding from a long time with new names in the team, it shows that we can be a dominant team in India.

After a very close loss in the second map, how did you bounce back? What was the talk in-between maps?

Nuke is a weak map for us, we haven’t been practicing it with the new team, so we did not make strats on the T-side for this event. Going into Ancient we were confident, from our previous 12-15 comeback. We got off to a great start and lost a few rounds, so we had to change our strategy. When I started hitting my shots I was pretty confident, it motivated the rest of the team and they started hitting their shots and we won crucial clutches. The main thing was when we were a man down, we communicated and traded well to convert those rounds.

You and Bhavi are both high-fragging IGLs, were there plans to specifically counter him?

I actually found a weakness on their A-site on Ancient and in the second half I did tell my teammates. We used that later in the end-phase of the match to win crucial rounds. We threw a 1v3 and it tilted me a lot. We kept our composure, bounced back and won the tournament, so yeah, pretty happy about that.

How are preparations coming up for the Skyesports Masters?

We are a new team, we got a boot camp 4 days back. By that time, I’m sure we’ll have more strats and more playbook. This win is a major confidence booster, looking forward to Skyesports Masters, hopefully we win that too.
