Roflko on dropping 37 kills: "I got Will to slap me in the face before the game."
After a scorching hot 1.50-rated performance on Nuke to shut 7SEA out in Overtime, James "Roflko" Lytras sat down with Dust2.in to discuss the match and his move to Enigma Gaming.
Let's start off on Inferno. You guys were on fire and had a 6 round streak early on. But once 7SEA started you were unable to break through their defence. What happened in that first half?
Yeah, that's a good question. We did come out on fire, but we dropped off a bit. There are a couple of reasons for that, our power kept going out. It was like a strobe light in here. Me and Will are from Australia, so we aren't used to the humidity. So when the Air Con went out, it was tough.
There was also a lot of high tension, we were getting surprised and started making mistakes. It was a good showing in the end, a good way to bring it back. Restabalize and win the map. It was a lot of team initiative, staying calm in high-pressure situations, and taking advantage further.
That really showed in the second half. You and Nox may not be on top of the scoreboard, but both of you had key rounds as the site anchors to hold off 7SEA's attack, surviving as long as possible. Is that smart mentality something you guys are trying to bring to the team?
Yeah, definitely. We are favouring playing as a team rather than depending on individual brilliance. I think a lot of teams depend on their aim and fragging by doing things just because they want to. We are trying to bring some of our own ideas. What's the right thing to do? What's the highest advantage play to win the game? One person doesn't win a game. The whole team does.
In terms of us playing as anchors, I feel it's a big responsibility as the anchor to play solo. And it's a big deal for the team to trust you to leave you solo to defend a site. We are trying to build that trust. Trust in the caller, in whatever he says. Instead of trying to win ourselves, we have a leader, we listen to him, and we try to win the games together.
Moving on to Nuke, a superb performance from you. Thoughts?
I was really happy, I could shoot people again. I got Will to slap me in the face before the game. I was fired up and ready. I just felt really calm, even though the energy in the game was really high. Listen to the caller, have full trust and just do what I need to win the game. I couldn't have done that without the good calls and good setups from teammates. It was a good game, very close, and lots to work on, but individually I was able to shoot people.
Finally, some thoughts on moving to India and playing for Enigma.
It's awesome. I don't wanna speak for Will, but I think we have the same ideas. We love it. The weather's great compared to how cold Australia is right now. It's nice to be able to walk around at night. The food's excellent, but our stomachs aren't used to it, we've had a couple of rough days.
But we have just been piling and eating as much as we can. But yeah, the conditions are really nice, Enigma's taking good care of us. Especially our manager and owner. They're making it as comfortable for us as they can. We appreciate that a lot. The setup's great, and we're very grateful for the opportunity.
