FURIA see off Grayhound to start season with a win
The new-look FURIA under new captain FalleN started their season with a win as they took down Grayhound in their IEM Cologne Play-in matchup. It was a commendable performance from the Australian, who eventually just went down to what could become a very scary Brazilian line-up.
The new-look FURIA started their season on the T side on Ancient and a double INS opener helped Grayhound pick up the opening round. Grayhound scraped by against the force by from FURIA. FURIA's first came off the back of a mixed up as chelo and FalleN opened up the A site. Back-to-back A hits saw FURIA tie up the game and converted against the eco to take the lead at 3-2. Vexite's triple in middle saw Grayhound keep the scores tied. FURIA retook the lead but Grayhound stole away a round on an eco buy as the Australians invested nothing but a single deagle and Vexite opened up with a double deagle at B ramp. A Vexite ace kept Grayhound within two rounds of FURIA at 5-7. FURIA though ended the half with a 9-6 lead.
aliStair's quad kill which saw the Aussie clutch out a 1v3 saw Grayhound pick up the second pistol as well. FalleN's quad in the first gun round of the second half with a M4A1-s saw FURIA put up their 10th. Two back-to-back B hits saw Grayhound tie it up once again at 10-10. FURIA bounced back with nothing but pistols as yuurih and KSCERATO got doubles to see the Brazilians steal a round away on the B site. The rounds kept on tradings as aliStair came in with a crucial 1v1 against FalleN in an allout A site brawl to keep the Australians in the game.
FURIA finally made it two-in-a-row as they hung on against the eco from Grayhound and the Brazilians used that to close the map at 16-11. The top of the scoreboard for FURIA was neck-and-neck as yuurih, chelo and KSCERATO ended with 24, 23 and 22 kills respectively.
