"We tried our best" - SH4DY
9 matches into the tournament, Medal Esports are now playing with their main 5, with TonyPOPONY joining the team. After their loss to 7SEA Esports, Medal Esports have now won just 1 out of their 9 matches in the tournament so far and we got a chance to talk to SH4DY from Medal Esports. Here's what he had to say about the match and their plans going forward.
A strong performance on Inferno, can you talk about that?
"Inferno is the map we prepared the most for and it is by far a strong map for us. We knew our CT-side was weak and worked on coordinating and peeking together, it really showed. We had really good late round setups, weren't caught off guard and yeah, the first map spoke for itself."
Was Anubis a surprise pick for you guys?
"Yeah, we were kind of caught off guard with that pick, our map pool isn't very diverse right now. With all the players changes and roster shuffles, we couldn't really prepare all the maps. We were just thinking about Nuke and were pretty confident that we had it in our bag."
Fought till the end and just fell short, what happened on Nuke?
"We messed up our CT-side a bit, we lost many rounds because of bad retakes and lack of proper rotations. It affected the confidence of the team and the score was 1-1, a do-or-die situation which just added to it. We tried to come back on the T-side but we couldn't quite pick up the momentum. We got a few rounds and started to lose again. We tried our best and we have a lot more to learn on our CT-side."
Tony (TonyPOPONY) has finally joined you guys, what's your plan going forward from here?
"Yeah, it was just his first match, more like a warmup match for him even though we don't have that many. Tony is a big part of the team. Hopefully, we'll play a lot better from here on."
