ENCE outclass Cloud9
After the win against Fnatic, Cloud9 faced their first top tier challenge in ENCE. A semi-final spot on the line, electroNic's squad went up against Snappi and co. at Gamers8 2023.
Starting off on Ancient, C9 started with a pistol win and went 5-0 up off the back of that. But once ENCE stabilised, Cloud9 looked completely out of sorts. Missing util and open bomb plants gave ENCE round after round as the individuals gained confidence. Despite the hot start, the half ended 9-6 in the favour of ENCE. Picking up the pistol, ENCE were building a massive lead as C9 fell flat and the international found themselves at match-point. Finally at the last possible moment, electroNic's troops got their first CT sided round. But that was all they could muster and ENCE closed the map out 16-7.
Anubis up next, and despite all 5 members falling ENCE managed to win out the round on time. First gun round further cemented ENCE's position as NertZ took two scalps on the B site entry. Despite round 5 being a broken buy, C9 were able to hold the A site to take their first win. But the success was short-lived as Sh1ro was forced to save the AWP in the following. A rare sight for longtime NaVi fans, Perfecto wielded the secondary AWP but even that change up didn't bear fruit.
A triple each from Ax1le and Sh1ro gave C9 their next two, but back to back rounds still eluded them. ENCE once more ended the half in the lead, 10-5. C9 managed to take the pistol, but ENCE's force-buy disrupted their T side and gave the international squad the momentum to get 14. Back to back NertZ triples smashed Cloud9 out of the server, setting up ENCE's match against Heroic in the Semi-Finals.
