GamerLegion brush aside Grayhound to start EPL 18 strongly
The opening map of ESL Pro League Season 18 had GamerLegion take on Grayhound as both teams were looking for a strong start in a tough group with the likes of Vitality, Ninjas in Pyjamas and Astralis.
The opening map was Grayhound's pick of Anubis with Grayhound starting on the CT side. The Australians took the pistol but GamerLegion replied with the force buy and that propelled them to an early 6-2 lead. A crucial Liazz 1v1 on the A site saw Grayhound get their third and the Australians made it three in a row to get the score to 5-6. A double neaLaN opener helped GamerLegion secure eight and they ended the half with a 10-5 lead.
It was a clean pistol from GamerLegion to kick the second half off as Keoz came in with a triple with the Dualies to help his team take a six-round lead. Grayhound could manage a total of four T rounds as GamerLegion wrapped up the map at 16-9 with neaLaN closing the map with a 1v2. It was neaLaN himself on top of the scoreboard after Anubis with 22 kills.
Starting on the T side of their pick of Ancient, GamerLegion picked up the pistol and it was a 4-0 start before Grayhound got their first round with one saved M4 on Vexite and aliStair closing the round out with a 1v1. GamerLegion replied with consecutive rounds before a crucial INS triple helped the Australians get their second. acoR's 1v1 against Liazz saw GamerLegion secure their seventh and they ended the half with a 10-5 lead as Grayhound ended with three in a row.
A INS triple saw Grayhound take the second pistol they made it three in a row before an aliStair 1v3 saw Grayhound take the score to 9-10. GamerLegion's first CT round came with a one M4A1-S buy. GamerLegion went on a four-round streak before Grayhound got their tenth T round. Armed with upgraded pistols, an AWP and one FAMAS, GamerLegion stole a round away on the B site that helped them secure map and series point. It looked like the Australians would take it to overtime as Vexite and INS came in with a couple of crucial multi-kill rounds but in round 29, team damage at spawn and a team kill meant GamerLegion closed the map at 16-13 and took the series 2-0.
