ENCE secure ESL Pro League S18 quarter-final spot

BIG go down 1-2

While ENCE had an expected strong run in the Group Stages of the ESL Pro League Season 18, BIG stunned quite a few with their fantastic resurgence which saw both the teams take on each other in the Group B Upper Bracket Final, with both looking to book a direct quarter-final spot.

The opening map of the series was BIG's pick of Ancient and it was ENCE who picked up the pistol starting on the CT side. It was a mantuu triple with the AWP that saw BIG put up their first round in round 4. NertZ and SunPayus were crucial in ENCE putting up a solid defence as they raced to five rounds. Back-to-back Krimbo openers saw BIG get a footing of their T side which eventually broke ENCE's economy and saw BIG tie up the game. Dycha and SunPayus stole a 2v3 retake on the B site in the last second, with both coming in from cave to get ENCE back on the board and ENCE ended the half with a one round lead at 8-7.

SunPayus and NertZ were unstoppable on Ancient

ENCE won out the second pistol as well and were 11-7 up in no time before BIG got their CT sided full buy. ENCE won five in a row before BIG managed to hang on to a 4v2 retake on the A site, denying SunPayus a 1v2 to give the CT side their first round. BIG could manage just one more CT round as it was a complete T side shutdown from ENCE to close the map at 16-9.

ENCE's pick of Anubis was the second map with BIG taking the pistol starting on the T side. BIG ran away with a 6-1 lead before ENCE answered back and a SunPayus 1v2 saw them get it to two rounds. ENCE could manage just one more round as it was a 10-5 lead for BIG switching over to the CT side.

31 kills meant mantuu's AWP kept BIG in the series with a strong performance on Anubis

A NertZ triple saw ENCE pick up the second pistol but BIG answered back with a force buy which saw prosus clutch out a 1v2 on the A site. BIG were looking to run away with the half but a SunPayus 1v1 against mantuu on the B site saw ENCE break BIG economy and pull it back to 12-9. A mantuu double AWP opener from A site saw BIG get back on the board. The rounds kept trading as it was BIG who secured map point first turning around a 3v5 with a saved AWP and a mixed buy. BIG made sure the series went to a third map, picking up Anubis 16-14 with both mantuu and prosus dropping 31 and 30 kills.

The series decider was on Vertigo and a dycha 1v2 saw ENCE pick up the T sided pistol to kick things off. s1n's 1v1 against NertZ saw BIG pick up their first CT round after three straight from ENCE. ENCE answered back with five of their own to win out the half in round 9 at 8-1. A NertZ 1v3 saw ENCE secure double digits and it was a 11-4 lead from Snappi and co. at the end of the first half.

ENCE's dominance continued as they picked up the second pistol as well and after picking up the first gun round they were 14-4 up. A tabseN Tec-9 opener on a round with upgraded pistols saw BIG get their first T round and a mantuu 1v2 on the post plant on A site saw BIG secure their sixth. A dycha double opener saw ENCE secure map, match and series point and it looked like ENCE would secure the map at 16-7 but a s1n 1v3 saw BIG stay alive. SunPayus eventually closed it out for ENCE with an AWP 1v1 clutch on the B site to see ENCE win Vertigo 16-11.
