VAC Live brings minor ban wave across CS2
One of the features that the community were eagerly waiting for was a brand new anti-cheat system with the highly anticipated release of Counter-Strike 2 or an upgrade to VAC in order to make it more effective. CS:GO had a massive cheating problem, which made the community resort to third party matchmaking.
VAC Live took the spotlight, as videos surfaced where VAC would terminate ongoing CS2 matches immediately upon detection of third party cheating softwares. 719 game bans and 645 VAC bans were handed out on 28th of September, making it one of the biggest ban wave seen in several months. The total of over 1300 accounts banned seems massive but considering that CS2 had 31 million unique players across September, makes the number a very small fraction.
The community took to X to express their joy in seeing these cheater getting banned and some of them losing thousands of dollars in skins behind a game / VAC banned account. Flying Scoutsman was one of the most exploited game mode by cheaters to level up quickly and farm service medals. The fact that this game mode is yet to be added to CS2, has the community speculating whether some kind of rework is in progress to bring in preventive measure.
