Apeks eliminates VERTEX
Starting off on the CT-side of Mirage, CaCaNito fired on all cylinders as Apeks dropped just two rounds in the half, putting VERTEX at a massive 10-2 disadvantage. VERTEX showed some life on their CT-side but it was too little and too late, as Apeks closed out Mirage 13-5, going 1-0 up in the series.
VERTEX had a comparatively better start on Anubis. Despite Apeks stringing up rounds, they were not allowed to gain momentum and build a lead and run away with the half, as the first half ended 5-7, slightly in favor of Apeks. On the verge of securing match point, VERTEX fumbled as Apeks stole a glock round, levelling the score at 11-11.
Apeks took advantage of VERTEX’s over-aggression on the B-site to get a plant and secure the match point at 12-11. Playing against match point with a broken bank, VERTEX concede the map and crash out of IEM Sydney 2023, as Apeks close out Anubis 13-11 and the series 2-0.
