psy: "Players now lack discipline"
After a slow start to their first day at DreamHack Hyderabad, losing both their opening matches, we had a chat with psy from Team Respect. Once a legend of the game, psy talked about how he is not satisfied with the way pros in India are approaching the game. Here is what he said.
How does playing CS after a long time feel?
I feel really good. I am playing CS after a long time. And I have only played for the past two weeks and I am very proud of myself. I feel like I haven't forgotten the game. I can still play on the level I used to be known for. If I invest more time into the game, no one will be able to beat me.
Anything to add onto your views on the current generation of CS?
I feel like the level of CS I am watching right now, is not compared to the level of competition we had when I used to play. There are good teams of course. Marcos played well today. But I am not able to get the feeling of a strong competition. If I make a new lineup from scratch and grind for 3 months, with discipline and everything, I think we can make it.
How do you think the approach of the teams is different now from your time?
I think players lack discipline. At my time, I remember grinding the game for 12 hours. The coach used to stand behind us and we used to work really hard. I have always been an IGL, and I used to watch demos for 4-5 hours. My teammate Amaterasu, even he was with me in that time. We used to have that will of fire to compete, which I feel is lacking in the current scene, along with dedication.
