Asian spots cut from ESL Impact Season 6

Europe to now get five qualifying spots

ESL Impact Katowice has been removed from ESL's calendar for the upcoming year with Asia and Americas losing its Impact LAN spots to Europe. ESL stated that the change was made in response to low participation in some regions in 2023 and to ensure that the best talent was allowed to compete at top-tier events.

ESL Impact Season 5 finals will take place in Dallas with four European teams, two North American teams, one Asian team and one South African team. Season 6 however, sees Asia completely cut out of the event with Europe getting five slots.

The change was met with massive criticism by the community and players, given that diversity and inclusivity were among the core motives of Impact events.

As of now, ESL has stated that standalone Impact events for the next cycle have been put on standby in order to explore new opportunities. ESL Impact's Season 5 Finals will take place in Dallas and Season 6 heads to Stockholm, with both seasons carrying a buffed prize pool of $150,000 USD.
