Swani to step back from G2 Coach role
G2's Head Coach Jan "Swani" Müller has announced his decision to move away from the roster, following the conclusion of the upcoming BLAST Premier World Finals, after over 4 years with the team. The move marks an end to his tenure as a head coach that was formally announced in January of this year.
The German coach highlighted that this is a decision of his own volition, hoping to put out any rumours of other coaches being the motivator behind this move.
I have made the decision to step down as head coach after BLAST World Finals. It seems fitting that my coaching career starts and ends with BLAST World Finals. It is very important for me to emphasize that this decision has been made solely by me and is not influenced by any other party.
- G2 Swani
Swani started his career as an analyst for the German squad of Alternate Attax, before spending years in the Americas sphere with notable organizations like Liquid, SK, MIBR, NRG and FURIA, before finding his way onto the G2 coaching staff working with MaLeK as the team transitioned to an international roster featuring Nexa and hunter.
Since then the German has been a staple of the CS division, being the longest standing member even surpassing hunter. Having gone through the various iterations of G2, he was well suited for the Head Coach job when XTQZZZ stepped away from the roster at the end of 2022. With Swani at the helm, the team found incredible success in events like BLAST Premier World FInals, IEM Katowice and IEM Cologne, but fell short in some regards, especially with dissapointing performances at the Majors.
But now the time has come to take care of myself and my loved ones. I gradually felt worse throughout the year and it has taken a big toll on me, so I made the decision to step back. Thank you for trusting an unknown German kid with the keys to C2, I will be eternally grateful for the memories I made along the way. got to travel the world with my boys while living my hobby. But once the passion becomes a burden, it is time to end it. Thank you GArmy and everyone involved!

The end of 2023 has marked a period of change for a number of top teams, and G2 has been no exception. WIth CS2's Copenhagen Major on the horizon, the team has brought back Nexa and replaced JKS from the active roster. The replacement for Swani remains a question, that will likely be answered in the upcoming player break.
