KingPins still waiting for prize money from Upthrust Esports
In a shocking development, Dust2 India has learnt from the players of KingPins that they are yet to receive their prize money for two events hosted by Upthrust Esports.
KingPins had taken down L.O.T Gaming in the Grand Final of the Upthrust Esports Pro Showdown 2, with the Grand Final being held on September 17, 2023. The winning team was scheduled to receive INR 25,000 as prize money but KingPins players are yet to receive it.
KingPins also won the Upthrust Esports Gaming Fest Season 4, held in the same month, September 2023. Bhavi had led the KingPins to a comfortable 2-0 win over ROG Academy in the Grand Final held on September 27, 2023 and KingPins won INR 25,000 as the prize money which they are yet to receive.
On speaking with the players from KingPins, it is learnt that the team has been regularly following up with Upthrust about the prize money but there was no update about the prize money up until recently.
It is learnt that KingPins had directly reached out to the top management of Upthrust and they have told the team that it will take 'a few months' more.
KingPins though isn't the only one who hasn't been paid by Upthrust. Dust2 India has also learnt that L.O.T Gaming, who finished second in the Upthrust Pro Showdown Season 2 and are yet to receive their prize money of INR 15,000.
Dust2 India even reached out to Upthrust Esports for their comment on the matter but did not receive one at the time of publication.
