ESL World rankings receive parametric updates

Regional multipliers adjusted among other changes

In a recent update ESL modified their world rankings model which is likely to "Net out in a more fair and accommodating ESL World Ranking."

While majority of the changes announced in the update will be exercised from 6th March 2024, a few vital requirements will come into play immediately. Due to increasing local competitions, the regional multipliers have been adjusted to evaluate teams better. The regional multiplier for Asia goes up to 5% from 4.5%.

  • AS 4.5% » 5%

  • NA 26% » 20%

  • OC 9.5% » 8%

  • SA 7% » 14%

North America will now have eight pertinent teams instead of ten and the EU-CIS regions have been merged for a more precise evaluation of tournaments. All of the above are effective immediately.

Coming into effect from 6th March 2024, the pure "player model" switches to a mixed model allowing teams a single change over the span of 120 days without reduction in points and an improved points recalculation method will be introduced.
