Indian teams fail to qualify for IEM Chengdu
With more than 100 teams having registered for the IEM Chengdu Asia Qualifier 2, multiple Indian teams were once again vying for a spot in the IEM Chengdu Asia Closed Qualifier after a disastrous run by all of the Indian teams in the Asia Qualifier 1, where all of the teams from India were knocked out on the opening day itself.
Round 1 (BO1):
Marcos Gaming, Enigma Gaming, Gods Reign, Grayfox Esports, True Rippers, Griffins ES, Tatakai and 2ez Gaming all got byes in the opening round, which saw them sail through to the second round without any obstacles.
Revenge Esports went up against MGL KILLERS in their opening game, with the BO1 taking place on Vertigo. Revenge Esports secured a comfortable 13-6 win to move onto to the second round.
Round 2 (BO1):
Enigma Gaming kicked off the second round for the Indian teams against Daruukhan5, with the BO1 taking place on Ancient. Enigma held on for a 13-11 win which saw them proceed to Round 3.
Grayfox went up against compatriots 2ez Gaming in their Round 2 game and India's newly ranked no.1 team took down rite2ace and co. 13-8 on Inferno.
Marcos Gaming, who recently picked up the KingPins roster, suffered a loss to former ROG Academy core Tatakai in their Round 2 game, going down 9-13 on Ancient.
Griffins ES were sent packing by team regime on Mirage, where they suffered a big 4-13 loss.
Gods Reign ran through Full tilt 13-1 in their round 2 game on Ancient to become the second team to move into Round 3.
Revenge Esports were up against sayGGteam in their Round 2 game on Anubis and were blown away 1-13 which ended their IEM Chengdu dreams.
True Rippers ran through F4F 13-4 on Inferno to keep their IEM Chengdu hopes alive.
Round 3 (BO1):
Enigma Gaming were handed a proper beating by WingsUp, suffering a 3-13 loss on Ancient, which ended their IEM Chengdu dreams in Round 3.
Tatakai, consisting of the former ROG Academy core of KillSwiTcH, vrenyy and BrOCK were up against DRIPPY LAB in their Round 3 game, taking place on Anubis. Tatakai went down 9-13 which ended their campaign.
Gods Reign beat 2ez Gaming following a 13-6 win on Ancient which sent their fellow Indians packing.
True Rippers faced AVANTURA in their third round game and it was a neck-and-neck match on Mirage with DEFAULTER and co. taking a 13-11 win.
Round 4 (BO1):
Gods Reign were up against sayGGteam in their Round 4 BO1 with Anubis being the battleground. Gods Reign's campaign came to an end in the fourth round following a 5-13 loss.
The only remaining Indian team, True Rippers faced GR Gaming in their round 4 game with the action taking place on Overpass. GR Gaming ran away with a 5-0 lead to get things started and eased to a comfortable 13-4 win to knock the final Indian team out of contention from an IEM Chengdu spot.
With Gods Reign and True Rippers falling in Round 4, it means there won't be any Indian teams heading to China for IEM Chengdu.
