Gods Reign storm their way to the Grand Finals defying all odds
The Skyesports Grand Slam 2024 consolidation final kicked off with a face-off between Gods Reign and Bad News Kangaroos. Gods Reign's decision to let Nuke float in the map pool backfired as BNK settled their first pick. While the AWP of rev3nnnn chimed in to claim the buy round after an initial 0-2 deficit, the CT side quickly fell flat as BNK secured an 11-1 lead. The map ended soon after in the second half, giving way to a 13-1 win to the Kangaroos.
Moving on to Anubis, Gods Reign showed promise early on the CT side, gaining a 6-1 lead. However, conceding a few rounds towards the end of the first half allowed BNK to close the gap, ending the half with five rounds. In the second half, BNK quickly turned things around, overpowering Gods Reign and taking control of the game to lead 8-7. However, a second awakening from Gods Reign and some key rounds going their way saw Gods Reign close out the map with a 13-8 win.
Gods Reign kicked off the decider map Inferno with a pistol win, but a 3k from Brace disrupted their plans as BNK converted the force buy. However, recouping after the setback, Gods Reing went on a tear, establishing an 8-4 lead. As decider Infernos are meant to be, the game grew severely intense as it progressed. However, Gods Reign once again emerged victorious in key rounds, propelling them to a 13-9 victory.
