Marcos Gaming defeats Grayfox Esports and True Rippers
28th March 4:00 PM
Everything started with Marcos besting Grayfox and True Rippers in the Opening matches of the Indian Closed Qualifiers of Skyesports Masters 2024.
In their first win against Grayfox, BuNTz went 23-19 and 13-6 on Overpass and Vertigo, as Marcos won 19-15 and 13-2 respectively. Then in the next match against True Rippers, BuNTz went 12-9 and 17-17, while Marcos managed to pull off wins of 13-3 and 13-11.
This marked a remarkable surge in his personal rating compared to his performance in previous tournaments (Skyesports Grand Slam 2024 India Closed Qualifier), where he rarely reached double-digit kills. For instance, in their matchup against 2EZ Gaming, BuNTz had 10 and 4 kills, while against Gods Reign he had 6 and 8.
Later that evening, Grayfox Esports' coach Godspeed took to Twitter to address the issue of ID spoofing, avoiding direct accusations against any player or team.
Ex-Reckoning player alleges BuNTz spoofed
29th March 3:00 AM
Later, former Reckoning Esports player surajS came forward with his analysis of BuNTz's demos, including clips from the Skyesports Grand Slam India Qualifiers and Skyesports Masters India Closed Qualifiers 2024. He asserted that the evidence was compelling enough to suggest that the clips involved different players, insinuating the occurrence of ID spoofing during an official Qualifier.
Community unites in collective support of allegations
The rest of the community followed suit, echoing surajS's allegations, reaching a consensus that BuNTz was indeed engaging in ID spoofing and violating the rules. Former CS:GO pro DeathMakeR expressed suspicion about BuNTz's movement and crosshair placement. Certain sections also alleged that it was Russian player GreK playing instead of BuNTz but there was no proof from anyone to backup the statements.
Yashwanth, founder of True Rippers, found BuNTz's sudden development unrealistic. Other professionals shared similar sentiments, all focused on the belief that BuNTz was engaged in ID spoofing.
Skyesports comes forth with a resolution
29th March 12:40 PM
Ahead of their next game against Gods Reign, and in response to the uproar, Skyesports CEO Shiva Nandy announced several measures to mitigate further escalation. He stated that the café owner, where BuNTz was playing, confirmed that no one else used BuNTz's PC. However, rite2ace refuted this, asserting it was not true. According to rite2ace, the admins first claimed they were monitoring both face and body cam, but amended their words the next day to say they were only monitoring the face cam.
Following True Rippers sending Marcos Gaming home from the Skyesports Masters 2024 India Closed Qualifier, Skyesports released an update stating that they have assigned 'team of industry specialists who have been tasked with assessing the situation and implementing appropriate measures.'
Marcos Gaming later played against Gods Reign in the Upper Bracket Final, where BuNTz struggled to maintain his performance from the previous encounter, sitting at the bottom of the scoreboard with a 0.57 rating. It fueled the fire further, as pros claimed it to be an open-and-shut case seeing BuNTz returning to his normal form after being monitored.
Yesterday Marcos Gaming were eliminated from the event by True Rippers in the Consolidation Final with BuNTz going 22-35 in the series, with a rating of 0.73.
