7SEA receives Skyesports Masters 2023 prize money
Dust2 has confirmed from the former 7SEA players that they have received the prize money for the Skyesports Masters 2023 tournament. The $245,000 tournament concluded in August 2023, but the payment to 7SEA took longer than the other teams. According to a statement from Skyesports, a problem with the receiver's bank caused the money to be returned to the sender.
By the time Skyesports issued their statement, the issues had been resolved, and on July 11th, the players received their prize money. However, as told by the players, the tournament organiser took a cut of INR 15 lakhs, leaving the remaining INR 6.75 lakhs to be split between the organisation and the players.
Dust2 India has also verified from sources that Gods Reign players have also received their prize money on July 11, 2024. Gods Reign were the winners of Skyesports Masters 2023, and claimed a winning of INR 44.25 lakhs.
Dust2 India got in touch with ELV1S from 7SEA who shared insights about the payment timeline, as well as his communication with the team management and Skyesports.
Until April 2024 we were trying to contact our own organisation (7SEA Esports) and Skyesports but not until recently were we told by Shiva (Nandy, Skyesports CEO) that the money was not credited into our organisation's account due to wrong bank details. Hence there was a delay and we were given a date of 15th July to receive our money. I think Dust2 India's article also helped push the matter which inclined them to transfer the amount on July 11th and we also came to know that players from other organisation also started getting their prize money. So huge props to Dust2.in for being a vocal voice for us players and also to Santosh Pecheti for coordinating with Skyesports. We just wish Ampverse Pvt Ltd were a bit more transparent with the delay in our prize money and also Skyesports for not giving us any justifiable clarification of the 15 Lakhs cut from the prize pool.
