The MongolZ stun Spirit
The MongolZ started their journey in the IEM Cologne 2024 Group Stages with a stunning victory over tournament favourites Spirit, which has dropped donk and co. to the lower bracket.
The MongolZ started with a 5-2 lead on Ancient before Spirit's defence tied up the half and the second half pistol and conversion meant Spirit went 9-6. The MongolZ hit back with two low buy rounds which saw youngster mzinho power up to take the map to overtime with the Asian team closing it out at 16-13.
On Spirit's pick of Anubis, it was a sloppy showing from chopper and co. which led to The MongolZ running away with a massive 13-4 win to secure a shocking 2-0 win in the Group A upper bracket quarter-final.
The win puts The MongolZ in the upper bracket semi-final, where it will be a rematch of their Play-In stage game against SAW while Spirit will have to now battle it out through the lower bracket and first up for them will be G2.
