The MongolZ fall to SAW
The MongolZ were on the brink of creating history, as they looked to become the first Asian team to make Playoffs at Cologne but that dream will have to wait on for a bit longer following their loss to SAW in the IEM Cologne 2024 Group A upper bracket semi-final.
The MongolZ kicked off things on their pick of Ancient with a strong T side, but some sloppy decisions on their defensive half saw SAW fight back to take the map to overtime. The MongolZ though, held on in overtime to lock in a 16-13 win to draw first blood in the upper bracket semi-final. The Portuguese side fought back on their pick of Nuke, after taking a two-round lead on their T side, a solid defence helped them lock in a 13-7 win to tie the series.
The decider on Anubis had ewjerkz and arrozdoce power SAW to a 9-3 lead on their T side. The MongolZ fought back on their T side but SAW held on for a 13-10 win. The loss sees The MongolZ drop to the Lower bracket where they will take on the winner of the paiN vs 9z match while SAW have booked their spot in the Playoffs.
