The MongolZ set for SAW rematch
After shocking Spirit in the IEM Cologne 2024 Group Stage opener, The MongolZ now have a good shot at making the Playoffs as bLitz and co. continues their upper bracket run today. The MongolZ face SAW in the upper bracket semi-final today with the Asian team looking to add their name in the history books.
The MongolZ led by their captain bLitZ and 17-year old mzinho, shocked Spirit in the Upper bracket opening game, locking in a 2-0, closing out the series with a dominant 13-4 on Anubis. Their performance was a much-needed upward move after being pushed to the limit in the Play-In stage and not looking like their usual selves. Now after taking down Spirit, they face SAW, who beat them in their Play-In stage opening game and the Asian team will be looking to get some revenge this time around.
The Portuguese squad, who dominated G2 in their Group stage opener, were too strong for The MongolZ in the Play-In but since that loss, The MongolZ found form against FlyQuest and then managed to get past Eternal Fire to make it to the Group Stages before a much improved showing against Spirit.
The MongolZ know it's going to be a tough road should they make the Playoffs but this is their time to cement themselves as one of the best teams in the world and there is no place better to do than in Cologne. The winner of The MongolZ - SAW game will lock in their place at the iconic LANXESS arena.
