Maniac deactivates social media profiles
Following the recent development in the sexual assault allegations case against Counter-Strike analyst, caster and desk host Mathieu 'Maniac' Quiquerez, the Swiss talent member has gone ahead and deactivated his social media accounts on X and Instagram.
The move to deactivate his social profiles comes after Dust2.us' revealing report which brought forward multiple instances of inappropriate behaviour from Maniac, dating back to over two years.
It all started on the evening of September 4, 2024 when esports journalist went on X to reveal that she was sexually assaulted by Maniac during a Counter-Strike afterparty in the summer of 2024, although she did not reveal which event it was. Shortly after it was revealed to be the BLAST Premier Spring Finals, which had taken place in London in June 2024. Instantly after Marie's allegations, Maniac, who was on air during the ongoing ESL Pro League Season 20, removed himself from the broadcast and shortly after issued a statement (his only public statement since the allegations have to light) stating that he thought he 'flirted' with the victim under mutual understanding.
He also goes on to say that he might have missed the cues and even if he doesn't accept the events (stated by Marie) as the truth, he would not be fighting those claims.
Post Marie's allegations, another esports personnel, Daisy Powers also revealed how she was assaulted by Maniac and a day later, Dust2.us put out a breaking report where eight sources came forward and accused Maniac of inappropriate behaviour, which included texting underage girls. Maniac is reported to have also been physically removed by fellow talent members from the BLAST World Finals 2022 due to acting inappropriately and harassing a woman there. Prominent tournament organisers including, BLAST, ESL and PGL have all dropped Maniac from their talent list.
