Is the Armory CS2 update only about skins?
After a long wait, the much anticipated CS2 update was launched earlier today, and...and the buzz suggests it's mostly about skins. However, that's only part of the story. Along with a plethora of new skins, stickers, and charms, Valve has made significant gameplay improvements.
The fixes to the movement animation has been smoothed over in multiple scenarios, also eliminating the MJ Lean now, and the movement inaccuracies on a slope. For a long time, players have been facing jitter issues despite stable ping and FPS leaving them scratching their heads. Now, Valve has introduced graphs for jitter and misdelivery, providing much-needed clarity.
The gameplay has shown significant signs of improvement. Kill feedback is quicker, and ragdolls fall at a faster rate. According to popular streamer renyanFPS, kill feedback is now 1-2 frames faster, though it's still a bit behind the level of CSGO in 2023.
However, the addition of the charms amongst other things have had a negative impact on the FPS of the game. According to X user, Thour, FPS has reportedly received a 14% drop. Yesber reported that while the movement over slopes have been smoothed, the camera still shows 33ms desync on slopedrops.
Amongst Pros, we observed mixed reactions towards the update. While ELiGE and NBK- praised the improved animations, emphasising their significance, smooya and freakzoid expressed their disdain.
