CS2 makes it to PC Gamer's top 100
The much anticipated list of 2024's top 100 PC games was published yesterday by pcgamer.com and despite the game's current state, Counter-Strike 2 has managed to hold it's own and stay within the top 50.
Widely regarded as the "King of all FPS" and as Valve themselves call it- "Your favorite first-person shooter's favorite first-person shooter", Counter-Strike 2 is placed at #35 on the list, while it's direct competitor VALORANT, couldn't even make it to the list or the honorable mentions.
Counter-Strike 2 scored a quality score of 7.67, importance score of 7.90, hotness score of 8.22 and playability score of 7.86 with an overall score of 234.12. In Counter-Strike 2's section, PC Gamer's senior editor Rich Stanton regarded the title as his favorite shooter by a mile and hoped that this was the beginning for Counter-Strike 2.
He also mentions the title's ascent in last year's top 100 list, where CS:GO steamed into the top 10, securing a #8. However, Counter-Strike 2 came right before the list was published. Valve are constantly pushing QoL updates to the game every now and then, trying to get a grip on the game's fundamentals. Recently, Counter-Strike 2 received a huge content update- "The Armory".
