Gods Reign wins GG League Pro Series

Indian team breaks their 2nd place streak

Gods Reign continued their stellar run at the GG LEAGUE Pro Series Playoffs as they went on to win the event, taking down impact in the Grand Final. The Indian team dominated the Playoffs, dropping just one map, which came in the Grand Final itself.

The playoffs bracket of the GG LEAGUE Pro Series entered it's backend phase with three Indian teams sitting in the semi-finals. The first semi-final saw the ex-True Rippers lineup (Orgless5) take on Gods Reign in an Indian derby. Orgless5 were playing without their IGL DEFAULTER with DiceDealer standing in.

Semi-final 1 - Gods Reign 2 - 0 Orgless5

Orgless5 started on the T-side and went for a quick A-take in the pistol round where Rossi rained down lead with four headshots, stopping the Ts in their tracks. Gods Reign managed to keep their damages to a minimum and got an AWP in f1redup's hands very early in the half as life became tougher for Orgless5. Gods Reign took an 8-4 half in their favor.

Right out the gate, Orgless5 closed the gap in the second half but once Gods Reign stabilized their economy and got their setups running, Orgless5 could do very little as the Gods Reign closed out Mirage 13-8 to go 1-0 up in the series.

Going into Anubis Gods Reign picked up where they left off, getting off to a 4-0 start on the CT-side with R2B2 and f1redup finding early impact for the team. In a rinse-repeat fashion, Gods Reign once again took an 8-4 half in their favor as Orgless5 came under big pressure with their tournament lifeline depending on their CT-side on Anubis.

After Gods Reign sprinted to match point without dropping a single-round in the second half, Orgless5 put up their first CT-side round at 5-12 but Gods Reign closed it with an A-hit, taking Anubis 13-5 and wrapping the series 2-0 to advance to the final.

Semi-final 2 - VICTORES SUMUS 0 - 2 impact

In the other semi-final, it was VICTORES SUMUS up against UAE based team impact. Starting on the T-side of Dust2, VICTORES SUMUS got off to a strong start and managed to convert a 7-5 half in their favor with the trio of Recoilmastr, arakyn and RaYzeR sitting on 11 frags a piece. The Indian team could not contain impact's T-side as the latter put up 7 rounds in a row to reach match point at 12-7.

VICTORES SUMUS gave nothing away for free a the Indian team fought tooth and nail to push the map into overtime, which they eventually did. Flawless T-sides from both teams saw the map get pushed into another overtime where impact went 4-0 and finally closed out Dust2.

The second map took us to Inferno where it took three round for the Indian side to penetrate impact's CT-defense and open their account on the T-side. Having eventually closed the gap at 4-4, both teams traded their way to a 6-6 half. Nearly dropping an ace in the first gun round, walooou single-handedly collapsed the Indian team's CT-economy.

VICTORES SUMUS could not recover in time as impact closed Inferno 13-8, setting up their grand-final matchup with Gods Reign. Gods Reign played the final without their IGl as Anasis stood in for Bhavi.

Grand Final - Gods Reign 2 - 1 impact

Gods Reign started on the T-side of Dust2 in the grand final, where they drew a 6-6 half but struggled to contain impact's T-side in the second half after they got off to a good start. A tight sequence towards the latter part of the game saw impact edge out Gods Reign 13-11 to take map 1.

The second map took us to Ancient where Gods Reign started on the T-side and quickly recovered after conceded the initial couple of rounds. The Indian side put up a decent decent T-side to take a 7-5 half in their favor but impact closed the lead straight away with pistol and anti-eco wins on their T-side. Gods Reign eventually closed out Ancient 13-9 and pushed the series into the decider.

Gods Reign started Anubis with a 1-4 deficit on their CT-side. f1redup's lethal close quarters Mag7 followed by rossi and R2B2's masterful 2v2, netted Gods Reign their second round. Riding the momentum, the Indian side closed the gap and drew the half 6-6. Round for round trades in the second half ended with Gods Reign coming out on top with a 13-11 win, wrapping the series 2-1.

Gods Reign took down impact and locked in a title win at the GG LEAGUE Pro Series after booking their playoff spot by winning out the first qualifier. The Indian team walks away with a total of $1,500 USD in winnings from the circuit.
