Rare Atom stunned by Eruption
Mongolian side Eruption stunned Rare Atom at the MESA Asia Series 2024 Finals Upper Bracket Final as they took down the higher ranked Chinese team, who had their coach standing in for them, to make the Grand Final of the $25,000 event.
Eruption's pick of Anubis saw them put up a strong defensive half with sk0R, MagnumZ and xenization stepping up before a near flawless T side saw them take a 13-7 win. Rare Atom scraped by on their pick of Ancient with L1haNg and Summer getting them across at 16-12 in overtime to keep the series alive.
On the decider, which took the action to Mirage, Eruption's explosive T side saw them run away to an 8-1 start before the Chinese team pulled back three consecutive rounds to close out the opening half. While Rare Atom tried to put together a couple of rounds on their T side, Eruption held on and with sk0R leading the charge, Eruption locked in a 13-7 win to take the series 2-1 and move into the Grand Final.
While the win puts Eruption in the Grand Final, Rare Atom will now face ATOX in the Consolidation Final as they will have one more shot at making the Grand Final.
